ORA Restaurant • Lounge, Kamloops, B.C., is seeking a “hands on chef” that can lead a kitchen and run the restaurant.   You must display a passion for food and cooking, and lead by example. You must be dedicated to quality and service. Your resume and references should prove you have strong management and communication skills. You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Cooking and presentation
  • Direct daily supervision and productivity of kitchen staff
  • Scheduling of kitchen staff
  • Continued training, development, and performance evaluations of all kitchen staff
  • You will assist the Executive Chef with the development of the new menu and concept, hire and train staff, create recipes and set infrastructure for the entire kitchen.
  • Negotiating and purchasing from suppliers
  • Inventory
  • Quality controls and systems
  • Ensuring that a high quality of food safety and cleanliness standards are maintained

Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidates must possess a Red Seal Certification, two to three years of post-high school education, preferably a culinary degree, and two to three years in a related position.
  • Excellent skills in all related kitchen positions
  • an understanding of food and beverage control systems, food and labour costs, health and safety standards
  • Valid Food Safe Levels 1 and 2 and WHMIS
  • Understanding of front of house operations and off-site catering functions
